Picasso, Miró, Dalí: the birth of modernity

What did young Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Salvador Dalí paint in their early years? This is the theme of an exhibit organized by the Palazzo Strozzi foundation which examines Picasso's pre-Cubist period prior to 1907 and the work of Miró and Dalì between 1915 and 1925, before they became part of the Surrealist movement. More than sixty pieces from the early work of these first masters of modern art and more than one hundred sketches by Picasso, brought together from the most important Spanish museums, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and private collections. On exhibit here for the first time outside Spain is Picasso's sketchbook Cahier 7 from 1907 which contains the very first sketches for his revolutionary masterpiece "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon."

Moleskine celebrates these young artists, together again at Palazzo Strozzi, with a special edition of the Cahier sketchbook: two colors, blue and red, soft cover stamped with gold letters that recall the Renaissance palace's logo.
