Reg Mombassa

Reg Mombassa was born in New Zealand  and  moved to Australia in 1969 to take up a footballing scholarship with then club champions, Balmain. Mombassa became interested in art after winning the second prize in an art competition and enrolled immediately at the National Art School at East Sydney Technical College. His unsentimental vistas of back-lit eucalyptus, beer, football, vomiting and farmyard malevolence enriched Mambo's full range of family street wear, and has been reproduced in Rolling Stone, Vogue, Guns & Ammo, New Bride and LA style, while his paintings are found in the collections of both State and National Galleries.
