Welcome to the world of Cyril Vouilloz aka Rylsee, a universe made of drawings, letters and words. In a new editorial adventure, Moleskine Publishing brings to life the surprising, exciting and playful world of contemporary letter art. How to Play with Letters is a journey into the discovery of drawings and sketches whose raw simplicity provide an accurate and perceptive filter through which to reflect on today's world.

Rylsee is known for his witty, provocative slogan designs that appear to play on as well as subtly critique the short, superficial communications encouraged by smart-phone culture. He is an artist who expresses himself through the powerful medium of lettering and one of the integral members of the legendary Berlin art collective, Urban Spree.

Never far from his sketchbook, Rylsee uses it as a tool for his creativity and work as much as an escape from boredom and restlessness. Like so much of what he does, his sketchbooks are hard to classify as they are the process as much as they are the finished work. In his own words, "We should embrace the fact that people do something, rather than judge the final product. Well done doesn't mean interesting".

How to Play with Letters is published by Moleskine Books and is an ideal guide for anyone with an interest in cutting edge art and design.

Since 2009 Moleskine Books has been publishing books that investigate creativity as a whole, encompassing subjects such as architecture, design, graphic design and many more to come. Our journey as a brand takes us from notebooks to books to explore, reveal and preserve the creative processes of today's leading industries.

An event at the Moleskine Café in Milan on Wednesday June 28th will mark the launch of How to Play with Letters. A full day of live painting by Rylsee followed by a conversation about the colourful universe of creative lettering. He will be joined by famed calligrapher Luca Barcellona and visual designer Franco Achilli. Together, these three masters will share their own unique ways of "playing with letters", from modern calligraphy to letter art, from urban art to the latest ways to create in a seamless analog to digital experience.
