You're
likely to be familiar with Olympus cameras - but what about Olympus
laparoscopes? Since 1919, Olympus has grown into a global leader at the
forefront of precision technology solutions in both consumer
electronics and healthcare. At the University of Tokyo Medical Center,
in the 1950s, they created the first camera that enabled doctors to
take pictures inside the human body. This "gastrocamera" allowed
photographing of any part of the stomach in a short amount of time,
generating clear images to facilitate speedy and precise diagnoses.
Today,
the results achieved by Olympus Medical Systems Group serve healthcare
professionals in GI hospital suites, ambulatory surgery centers and
private practices. Their services span a wide continuum of care:
diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopes (used to make medical procedures
less invasive), EndoTherapy accessories, cleaning and disinfection
products and services, service and repair solutions, GI lab integration
services, cost-effective financial solutions, web-based endoscopy
information products and consulting services. Considering the company's
all-embracing mission to deliver technological advances "that
contribute positively to society," perpetual innovation is a basic
requirement at Olympus.
2006 was a big year for Olympus America -
they completed the relocation to new corporate headquarters in Center
Valley, Pennsylvania, integrating several of the U.S. Green Building
Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design features into
the 54-acre design. Its metal and clear-glass façade functions as an
architectural nod to the company's opto-digital products.
2006
also marked the beginning of their ongoing relationship with Moleskine.
Since the first project, over ten thousand pocket cahier notebooks,
large volants, classic notebooks and weekly planners of various sizes
have been used as corporate gifts and as holiday gifts to employees and
business partners. Many of the custom books have featured both the
Olympus logo and a gold imprint of the company tagline, Knowledge -
Vision - Solutions. The custom branding for the latest planner in the
series championed the art of simplicity, in an invitation for
recipients to make it their own: the extra-large, soft-cover 2008
weekly planner sports not much more than the Olympus logo, blind
debossed on the front cover.
