Established in 1977, Biomet is a family of companies specialized in the
design, manufacture and marketing of products used primarily by
musculoskeletal medical specialists. Headquartered in Warsaw, Indiana,
Biomet and its subsidiaries distribute both surgical and non-surgical
products to the orthopedic, sports medicine, biologic,
craniomaxillofacial and dental markets in more than 70 countries.
Without doubt, it is a large company with a wealth of resources - but
it prides itself on maintaining "the responsiveness and innovation of a
small company."

The Biomet Learning Center, now known as the Orthopaedic Skills
Academy, was founded in 1999 to offer practicing surgeons
state-of-the-art educational programs. The 30,000-square-foot facility,
located near Biomet headquarters in Warsaw, houses education stations
and labs that supply surgeons with hands-on opportunities in
image-guided surgery, surgical simulation, arthroscopy and sports
medicine, to name just a few. It's also where visiting surgeons learn
to master the latest equipment in Biomet's product portfolio. Lastly,
the Academy's auditorium accommodates live video conferences of
worldwide surgical procedures.

In September 2008, Biomet unveils a brand new surgeon training wing
at the Academy. In celebration of the grand opening, Moleskine was
called to create a line of notebooks debossed with the Biomet logo and
wrapped in a custom paperband. The notebooks - an ideal note-taking
device during lessons - are to be presented as gifts to surgeons
participating in the Academy's programs.
