Paula Odevall was born in São Paulo in 1975 to a Brazilian mother and a Swedish father. Besides keeping both cultures alive in their house, her parents also introduced a love for art, music, literature, film and photography. This notebook is what Paula calls a rite of passage, a necessary stop before going forward. Going through an archive of Super-8 films from her childhood, Paula explores what makes a memory through her art. She is interested in people, how they relate to each other and how they co-exist in today's society, all by exploring the very basics. Humor is very present in her art. Paula graduated from Lund's University with a B.A. in Art History and has been active in film and photography both in Brazil and Sweden. She moved to New York in 2006 to attend ICP (International Center of Photography) and has since then had her work both exhibited and published internationally.
