16 Days of Concerts, 19 Million of Budget, 230000 Visitors, 650 Journalists and 1350 Staff are some of the numbers of the event that in the last 40 years has attracted jazz music fans (and not only) in Switzerland: the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Founded in 1967 by Claude Nobs, the Festival has become an unmissable event with guests such as Miles Davis, Ray Charles, David Bowie, Massive Attack, Ella Fitzgerlad, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Santana. Jazz music may have constituted the Festival's historic roots, but other musical styles quickly found their place within the festival, sharing a common bond of musical curiosity and mutual enthusiasm.

Montreaux Jazz Festival 2007 The 2007 Festival edition (from 30th June to 15th July) has distinguished itself from the previous ones by wide changes.
"The 40th edition was meant to be, and was, an apotheosis, a milestone for the Festival. It was meant to reflect 40 years of history, the last 10 of which under its "modern" form. Today, our job is to solidify the Festival's standing and to adapt it to new cultural trends, both in terms of the artists and of the public or the media", declares Mathieu Jaton. After 6 years of working as a volunteer for the Festival, Mathieu was hired by the permanent office in 1999 as head of marketing and sponsoring. He became secretary general the next year. Since then, he has been in charge of the Festival's operational activities.
