Silver frames and red circles dominate the design of the Special Edition Notebook created by Moleskine to celebrate the creative career of Hong Kong graphic designer Alan Chan.
The notebook design symbolizes the impact that the Japanese heritage has had on Alan Chan's creative expression, hence also the name of the Special Edition My Japlan. As a brand Moleskine is synonymous with memory, creativity, travel and talent and through special, limited notebook editions celebrates the achievements of artists, designers and creatives of all shapes and forms.
Alan Chan is one of the few Hong Kong-trained graphic designers to have achieved international recognition. During his forty years in advertising and design, he and his company have won more than 600 awards, both local and international. In 1989 he was named Designer of the Year by the Hong Kong Artist Guild and in 1996, his company was selected by Graphis Press in New York as one of the Graphis Ten Best design firms in the world. Due recognition to his significant contribution to the design industry was given in 2002 when he was awarded the Medal of Honour by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
The cover of the My Japlan Special Edition Notebook features embossed circles, which represent Alan Chan's numerous achievements. The notebook is exclusively available at the Moleskine Landmark Store in Hong Kong.
