The notebook as a tool for discovering a city. The international sketching community gets together again for a weekend of field sketching, lectures, exhibitions and workshops, this year in Barcelona, July 11-13th.
Moleskine notebooks have captured the Urban Sketching Symposium over the last three years, and this year the Urban Sketchers will use specially created, for the first time ever, Japanese Albums made with watercolour paper*. One unique sheet is folded into accordion pages, allowing the pencil to travel further, the watercolour ink to run across multiple pages; through contours and folds, bends and street corners. Each sketcher's story will unravel as the Album is opened. On the cover a debossing of the Urban Sketchers logo, the paperband decorated with four artist drawings.
If you aren't attending the Symposium, Fòrum Fnac Triangle is organising an open sketchathon to collect different perspectives and impressions around Barcelona. Participants will receive a Moleskine pocket sketchbook to fill with their sketches of the city and then return to the Sala Ciutat later that evening. A jury will pick a selection of notebooks for an exhibition in the days after the event. More info on the Facebook page here.

And for those not in Barcelona. Every day during the Urban Sketching Symposium a sketch of one of the city's landmarks will be posted on the organization's Facebook and Twitter pages. Where was the sketch taken? Write your answer in the comments and a Moleskine Urban Sketchers Special Edition notebook could be yours.
