The Concept -THE
FLOWER "The chosen name for the notebook is the flower because it looks
like a bloomed flower. In the first part, it is explained with a short
introduction the meaning of this concept. The cover also contains white
flowers over a blue background."
The Introduction
" 'When I first received this notebook, it was a seed. Then, it turned
into a flower. I call it a small wildflower that has met the challenge
of the rocks and stones in its path to emerge into the light of day. It
reflects the real life: there is no point fighting against the
challenges of life, or trying to avoid or deny them. They are there,
and if the seed is to become the flower we must go through them. Be
courageous enough to grow into the flower you're meant to be.' 'Have
you ever seen a blue watermelon? Is it beautiful? Yes, it is. Maybe,
more beautiful than a red one.' 'Look at the mirror! What do you see?
What you see is beautiful?' 'What I'm trying to say is that this
notebook is beautiful even if it is not beautiful in classical terms.
It is gorgeous. It is an inner voyage. It is the mirror of myself and
my experience of Rome. Don't forget! The inner voice speaks not in
words but in the wordless language of heart.' 'Leave your prejudices,
Leave your aesthetic values Leave your ego apart' ' Sit down, relax and
please smile! Try to understand the hidden meaning! Now, you are ready
to share my experience. I hope you will love it. Because it is produced
by love. It is loved from the beginning up to the end. Be careful. It
is alive and sensitive. Don't damage the flower. Touch it gently.' 'Now
enjoy your trip.' " The Content The notebook contains three main parts
and an extra: 1) Rome Through Adjectives 2) City Tour 3) I colori di
Roma
Rome Through Adjectives: "This part tries to
describe the city of Rome with the help of adjectives. Every single
page is designed differently than another. For each page, a variety of
materials and photos are used. Each of them represents a different
aspect of Rome and it is linked to an adjective . Another significant
particularity of this part is the comparison of Turkish and Italian
culture in an indirect way. During your examination, you can notice
some old photos from the Ottoman period and some prayers written in
Arabic language. All of them are symbolic and try to explain cultural
differences and similarities."
City Tour "The part which is originally called
'City File', is used appropriately to its original purpose even if it
is modified by canceling the sections called info, shopping, art and
places, dreams and adventures. In this second part, you can observe
more writing than the first part. The information is taken from
Internet sources. Writings are supported by related photos and
materials. It is divided to 4 subsections: 1) Places/legends/recipes-
The legend of Rome, Suppli al telefono and The Pantheon 2)
Bars/wineries/stories- Salotto 42, Hotel Hassler , Gusto and Gambero
Rosso 3) Names/faces/encounters- Photos with some friends 4)
Books/movies/music- La Metamorfosi, Gocce di Memoria e Le Fate
Ignoranti are introduced."
I colori di Roma
"This final part of the notebook is designed as a photo album. There
are 6 sections and each of them represents another color. Colors are:
red, yellow, green, blue , white and black. The photos symbolizes these
colors and also the city. The transparent separators are also used in
this part in order to prevent photos to stick each other. Extra There
are 8 little photos with the names of the square they are situated in."
