The Italian National Trust and Moleskine present a new special project, <b>"The Hand of the Designer"</b>. The book is bound in the classical Moleskine Folio book layout, A4, but with white cover. The publication will come together with a 120-page Moleskine blank drawing sketch-book, for notes and free hand sketching.<br /><br />

"The Hand of the Designer" displays original sketches, given to the Italian National Trust, by 150 international designers, among them Bouroullec Brothers, Michael Graves, Hella Jongerius e Karim Rashid.<br /><br />

The project is an intimate look into the creative process of the designer, and a celebration of the everlasting power of free hand sketching even in the AutoCAD<small>®</small> era. Quick sketches, graphic signs, paper collages, tools to express an idea: the freedom given to designers in choosing the materials to send allows an eclectic documentation.<br /><br />

<p>The relationship between artist and notebook is a natural one. Several years ago, the timeless connection between creativity and the blank page took form in a collaboration between The Museum of Modern Art and Moleskine®. Originally a single custom notebook, today's relationship encompasses much more. <br /><br />In both Tokyo and New York, MoMA's stores have hosted events and displays for Detour and myDetour, the traveling Moleskine® exhibitions. More than a dozen limited edition notebooks have been created with the Department of Film and Video, recognizing the important cinematic contributions of international directors like Roberto Rossellini, Abbas Kiarostami, and Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Other limited editions have been created to record milestone events at the Museum, such as the New York Atlantic Pacific subway station project. So that art enthusiasts can have a place to record their inspiration, a line of classic MoMA Moleskine® notebooks is offered to visitors of MoMA's stores and website. <br /><br />And now, for the first time, the heir to the legendary notebook takes shape as a series of products inspired by MoMA. These first editions -- a New York City 2010 Planner designed to celebrate MoMA's iconic role in New York City, and a duo of products commemorating the 2009-10 exhibition, Bauhaus 1919-1933: Workshops for Modernity -- are yet another chapter in a story that continues to unfold. <br /><br /></p><!-- Fine presentazione -->

<p>More than 100 internationally recognized architects answered by sending to FAI hundreds of hand drawn works, revealing that sometimes the hand is faster than the computer. An exhibition was organized by FAI- Fondo Ambiente Italiano- called "<a href="http://www.moleskine.com/about_us/news/la_mano_dellarchitetto.php">The Hand of the Architect</a>" with 378 autographed drawings, donated to FAI by their authors as a tribute to Piero Portaluppi, the Milanese architect who designed Villa Necchi Campiglio, beautifully restored and opened to the public by FAI. </p><br /><a title="Felipe Assadi" href="http://www.moleskine.com/news/mano_architetto/gallery/felipe_assadi.jpg" rel="lightbox[felipe_assadi.jpg]"><img class="mt-image-none" alt="felipe_assadi.jpg" src="http://www.moleskine.com/assets_c/2009/04/felipe_assadi-thumb-75x47.jpg" height="47" width="75" /></a> <a title="Gae Aulenti" href="http://www.moleskine.com/news/mano_architetto/gallery/gae_aulenti.jpg" rel="lightbox[gae_aulenti.jpg]"><img class="mt-image-none" alt="gae_aulenti.jpg" src="http://www.moleskine.com/assets_c/2009/04/gae_aulenti-thumb-75x62.jpg" height="59" width="75" /></a> <a title="Mario Botta" href="http://www.moleskine.com/news/mano_architetto/gallery/mario_botta.jpg" rel="lightbox[mario_botta.jpg]"><img class="mt-image-none" alt="mario_botta.jpg" src="http://www.moleskine.com/assets_c/2009/04/mario_botta-thumb-75x45.jpg" height="58" width="75" /></a> <a title="Aldo Cibic" href="http://www.moleskine.com/news/mano_architetto/gallery/aldo_cibic.jpg" rel="lightbox[aldo_cibic.jpg]"><img class="mt-image-none" alt="aldo_cibic.jpg" src="http://www.moleskine.com/assets_c/2009/04/aldo_cibic-thumb-75x65.jpg" height="65" width="75" /></a> <a title="Massimiliano Fuksas" href="http://www.moleskine.com/news/mano_architetto/gallery/massimiliano_fuksas.jpg" rel="lightbox[massimiliano_fuksas.jpg]"><img class="mt-image-none" alt="massimiliano_fuksas.jpg" src="http://www.moleskine.com/assets_c/2009/04/massimiliano_fuksas-thumb-75x56.jpg" height="56" width="75" /></a> <a title="Michael Graves" href="http://www.moleskine.com/news/mano_architetto/gallery/michael_graves.gif" rel="lightbox[michael_graves.gif]"><img class="mt-image-none" alt="michael_graves.gif" src="http://www.moleskine.com/assets_c/2009/04/michael_graves-thumb-75x117.gif" height="59" width="75" /></a> <a title="Vittorio Gregotti" href="http://www.moleskine.com/news/mano_architetto/gallery/vittorio_gregotti.jpg" rel="lightbox[vittorio_gregotti.jpg]"><img class="mt-image-none" alt="vittorio_gregotti.jpg" src="http://www.moleskine.com/assets_c/2009/04/vittorio_gregotti-thumb-75x54.jpg" height="54" width="75" /></a> <a title="Zaha Hadid" href="http://www.moleskine.com/news/mano_architetto/gallery/zaha_hadid.jpg" rel="lightbox[zaha_hadid.jpg]"><img class="mt-image-none" alt="zaha_hadid.jpg" src="http://www.moleskine.com/assets_c/2009/04/zaha_hadid-thumb-75x114.jpg" height="64" width="75" /></a> <a title="Alessandro Mendini" href="http://www.moleskine.com/news/mano_architetto/gallery/alessandro_mendini.jpg" rel="lightbox[alessandro_mendini.jpg]"><img class="mt-image-none" alt="alessandro_mendini.jpg" src="http://www.moleskine.com/assets_c/2009/04/alessandro_mendini-thumb-75x65.jpg" height="65" width="75" /></a> <a title="Renzo Piano" href="http://www.moleskine.com/news/mano_architetto/gallery/renzo_piano.jpg" rel="lightbox[renzo_piano.jpg]"><img class="mt-image-none" alt="renzo_piano.jpg" src="http://www.moleskine.com/assets_c/2009/04/renzo_piano-thumb-75x53.jpg" height="53" width="75" /></a> <a title="Paolo Portoghesi" href="http://www.moleskine.com/news/mano_architetto/gallery/paolo_portoghesi.jpg" rel="lightbox[paolo_portoghesi.jpg]"><img class="mt-image-none" alt="paolo_portoghesi.jpg" src="http://www.moleskine.com/assets_c/2009/04/paolo_portoghesi-thumb-75x102.jpg" height="56" width="75" /></a> <a title="Matteo Thun" href="http://www.moleskine.com/news/mano_architetto/gallery/matteo_thun.jpg" rel="lightbox[matteo_thun.jpg]"><img class="mt-image-none" alt="matteo_thun.jpg" src="http://www.moleskine.com/assets_c/2009/04/matteo_thun-thumb-75x56.jpg" height="56" width="75" /></a><br />
<p><br />Moleskine has designed the catalogue in collaboration with Abitare Mgazine: it includes all the sketches, as well as biographies and texts from designers, historians and art dealers. The catalogue, a 228 page <a href="http://www.moleskine.com/catalogue/folio/">Moleskine Folio</a> notebook in A4 format is accompanied by a 120 blank page Cahier to be sketched through and through. </p>
<p>After the exhibition, the works were auctioned and all proceeds went to Villa Necchi Campiglio's restoration and upkeep.</p>
