It's curious to note that Switzerland hasn't got any coast line and without an adequate place to host the event, on the 27th of November 2003, Valencia, in Spain, was announced as the location of the next America's Cup.
The arrival of the Cup in Europe, after 150 years since its beginning, deserved a program that would reflect its importance. The America's Cup park was built for the occasion in the port of Valencia. The main building hosts the Foredeck club, a restaurant, bar open to the public and the shops Luis Vuitton and America's Cup. David Chipperfield, the architect called to design the building, declared the following:
"I believe that the building is in the ideal location to enjoy and follow the America's Cup. We wanted something with a strong impact and our concept of 'impact' is directed towards the boats. I believe that this building helps 'push' the sea towards you. It makes you feel that you are in a beautiful place. It means exactly this: the "plaza" and the entire structure".
A Notebook Moleskine, personalized with the logo and the banderole(created by famous Spanish designers) was delivered in an elegant package to all the members of the club.
