Two essential tools for architects and designers are brought together. The pencil and paper method meets the tablet in two new apps: The Hand of the Architect 2.0 and The Hand of the Designer 1.0 – available now for iOS and Android.
Released as published volumes last year and now available in app form, The Hand of the Architect brings together 378 sketches and drawings from 110 internationally renowned architects, such as Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster and Renzo Piano.
The Hand of the Designer features 462 signed drawings by 150 of the greatest contemporary designers, including the Bouroullec Brothers, Michael Graves and Karim Rashid. Take an intimate look into the creative process of the architect and designer and appreciate the power of freehand sketching in the CAD and Adobe era.
From initial ideas to developed concepts, sketches are supported by essays and biographies. All the images are retina display compatible and shareable, with the smallest details enlargeable. Lay your sketchbook out next to it; fill its blank pages with studies, free designs and notes. Discover dual creativity with our tablet covers, which hold both iPad and refillable Volant notebook.
All the works featured in the books and apps have been collected by FAI (Italian National Trust) to raise funds for the restoration of Piero Portaluppi's Villa Necchi, a 1930s architectural masterpiece in Milan. For every app sold, Moleskine will make a donation to FAI.
