In the hectic landscape of the twenty-first century with its fast-paced economic, social and technological advances, we all need blank spaces for mental log-off time.
Slide the elastic band across the cover with your index finger. Too much pressure and you'll have too much Power. Too little, and you won't have enough. But by exerting the right amount of energy a balance is maintained, giving you the Power of Love.
In this way a Moleskine notebook has been hacked into a meditation tool that demonstrates how Power and Love can influence the arts, business and society at large. Inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.'s statement in 1967 that:
"Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic",
the notebook demonstrates the Golden Ratio of the balance between Power and Love in modern society. Debossed on the cover and on the paperband are three icons representing power, love and their balance. When the notebook is in standby mode, the elastic band closure rests over the heart, the symbol of love. But positioned over the power symbol it is too far. See how to achieve the Power of Love in the video above.
Conceived by Ferdinando Buscema, a magic experience designer, and Mariano Tomatis, a wonder injector, the hack has been specially created for TEDx Navigli, which brings together a group of knowledge and creative professionals in Milan, Italy for a scientific exploration of how our globalized society can be improved by the power of love.
The TEDx Navigli team are also issuing a call to action to young artists around the world to create their own work responding to this message. Upload your creations to myMoleskine with the tag #poweroflove.
