Lettera27: African Knowledge on the move

How does knowledge circulate? How is it spread? Which generation does it come from? Which is the borderline clash?

These are a few of the many themes that will be discussed during three roundtables arranged by the lettera27 Foundation on Saturday, 6th and Sunday 7th at the Festivaletteratura in Mantua. For the third year, lettera27 comes back to Mantua to talk about the future of Africa, its knowledge, its people.
This year, the foundation invites you to three collaborative events to increase the content of literature, art, history and topics from the African continent within Wikipedia and to discuss knowledge of Africa in motion together with writers, artists and researchers. The meetings will be held in the State Archives Building.

Writers Nuruddin Farah, Abdourahman Waberi, Cristina Ali Farah, Igiaba Scego, Sami Tchak, film directors Gaston Kaboré and Dagmawi Yimer, Gabriele Del Grande of Fortress Europe, Federica Sossi of Storie Migranti , Marco Carsetti of Asinitas association will attend two WikiAfrica round tables.

The events, which will be held in the State Archives Building, are curated and coordinated by Alessandro Triulzi, Paola Splendore, Alessandra Di Maio and Iolanda Pensa.

On Saturday 6th, at 11.30 a.m., the focus is on "Knowledge circulation: WikiAfrica and the African reviews", at 15 p.m. it's about "Generations face to face - from the first to the second writers generation of the Somali diaspora".

On Sunday 7th, at 11 a.m the name of the talk is "Borders: How many roads I had to walk on, how many languages I had to learn".
During this period the documentary by Dagmawi Yimer about the work of the students of the Asinitas school for asylum-seekers and migrants will be also featured and also for the first time in Italy, the videos commissioned and gathered by Chimurenga Library, an online archiving project that profiles independent pan African paper periodicals from around the world.
