The Venice City Notebook has arrived. Paths carved in stone and water by young artists from all over the world.
With the Venice City Notebook, sealed with the official stamp, specifically created by Philippe Starck for the city, a new, important chapter has been added to the City Notebook collection and a new form of contact and partnership has been opened.
With the arrival of the Venice City Notebook, Moleskine directly takes part in the
cultural and economic life of the city, supporting a project in favour
of young artists from all over the world, in collaboration with The Municipality of Venice and organised by Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation : 8 artistic studios, at the SS Cosma e Damiano complex at Giudecca have been allocated for a year to young artists selected by the foundation.
The entire staff at the BLM, presided over by Angela Vettese, for the whole of 2007-2008 has chosen 6 Italian and foreign artists and two groups, Video Ied and the Cultural Association Mobeel , to testify to the diversity of production and cultural union which may be linked to contemporary art.
One of the winners of the art studios is the Japanese artist
Kensuke Koike , and a couple made up of
Uruguayan Amparo Ferrari and the Argentinian Sebastian Zabronsk i. The Italians are
Alberto Tadiello ,
Maddalena Fragnito De Giorgio , Marina Ferretti and
Vania Comoretti .
We are dealing with deliberately different personalities, with no preference concerning their training, where they are from, theoretical
orientation and the techniques used: We can expect them to compete
with each other with paint, sculpture, video, design, environmental
installations etc.
Moleskine is supporting the initiative with funding and equipment and
offering the young artists involved the opportunity to fill notebooks
with their projects and display them in the itinerant exhibition and
online at Detour . Design, words, visual and mental games, for a year long journey of their work within an artistic studio in Venice.
Pages which will continue to tell the story and experience in the years to come.
This meeting with the city and the young guest artists is a happy
occasion for Moleskine to strengthen its ties with the world of
contemporary art and intensify its dialogue with the numerous artists
who daily use the Moleskine notebooks for their creative work.
Thank you Venice for this opportunity.
