What's the first thing you do when you get a new Planner?

Unwrapping the plastic film. Pulling open the elastic band. Opening out the cover and… the smell of fresh new paper hits you.

Taking pleasure in the blankness of the pages. Weeks, days and months with no deadlines, meetings, places to be, people to see. Savor the moment while you can.

Line up the 2012 planner next to the new one. What will you keep from the year before? Important dates, personal details, outstanding tasks. Rewrite them neatly, or cut and paste the pages into the fresh planner. Name, address, passport details, car plate. What's changed in the last 12 months? Fill in the birthdays of the important people in your life. Check which festivities are coming up, organize your travel itineraries. Plan your year.

Does your planner come with stickers? Mark the important dates for easy reference. Drop business cards, spare passport photos and important receipts into the back pocket. Keep the Quality Control sticker safe. Make the planner your own by personalizing the cover, the inner pages or the spine.

Finally, name your reward. In case of loss, please return to…

Position the bookmark, and gently pull the elastic band over the cover to seal it shut. Care for and protect the new planner so it retains its gleam for as long as possible.
